Livin Da Vida Loca Shirt

How does one give a hat tip to those with type identification expertise, while completely flying under the radar?
Davida (Louis Minott, VGC, 1965) is one of the great mid-century display fonts that we are now lucky to see in at Mexican restaurants all over the world. Of course that’s just the tip of the iceberg of use cases for this ball-terminalled beauty, but what is truly remarkable is how effortlessly the name of the typeface dovetails into this mediocre pun. Also interesting, Louis Minott was 53 when he designed Davida. Minott died in 2003, just 4 years after Ricky Martin released his chart topper, “Livin’ la Vida Loca.” Now, 19 years after Minott died, and 56 years after Davida was released, we give you this shirt. Coincidence? Not really because there actually isn’t any significance in any of those numbers. Still though, SICK SHIRT.
